Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add 500 grams of ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in 2 cloves of minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Add 400 grams of canned diced tomatoes, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, 0.5 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of dried basil. Stir to combine.
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, cook 300 grams of spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Once the sauce has thickened, toss the cooked spaghetti with the sauce until evenly coated.
Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil and grated cheese if desired.
