Slice the eggplant into 0.5 cm thick rounds.
Place the slices on a microwave-safe plate and sprinkle with salt. Let sit for 5 minutes to draw out moisture.
Pat the eggplant slices dry with a paper towel.
In a microwave-safe dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce.
Place a layer of eggplant slices on top of the sauce.
Add a layer of mozzarella cheese on top of the eggplant.
Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of mozzarella cheese.
Cover the dish with a microwave-safe lid or plastic wrap, leaving a small vent for steam to escape.
Microwave on high for 8-10 minutes, until the eggplant is tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the dish cool for a few minutes before serving.
